Job Summary:

The overall purpose of this position is to develop the IEEE’s business in Shenzhen, Guangdong Provinces as well as the nearby areas in South China.  The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for developing membership especially those from industry, supporting standards activities, increasing corporate IP customers and developing industry-oriented events.  The role typically reports to the director of China operations


Location: the IEEE Shenzhen Office


Essential Functions:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

·        Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic plan to increase IEEE’s visibility, membership from industry and impact on the industry in Shenzhen and South China.

·        Develop membership, especially from the industry,

·        Develop entity members of the IEEE Standard Association, support standards activities,

·        Work closely with the sales vendor to increase corporate IP sales,

·        Identify opportunities to collaborate with the industry and develop industry-oriented events,

·        Increase the IEEE’s visibility and maximize the IEEE’s impact in Shenzhen and South China,

·        Establish and nurture relationships with government, academic, corporate and other stakeholders.

·        Interface with and support local volunteer leadership,

·        Provide assistance to facilitate IEEE’s educational activities, conferences, publishing projects and other programs as required,

·        Responsible for the administration and daily operation of the Shenzhen Office.

·        Handle enquiries from the members, stakeholders and the public.



Education and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s degree preferably on electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, power and energy or other IEEE areas. A master’s degree or above is a plus.

·        At least 7 years related working experience in IP sales, standard or other related field.


Skills & Other Requirements:

 ·        Strong communication skills to reinforce the value of IEEE to government and company senior executives.

·        Research skills to identify market opportunities and threats and to prepare proposals and business plans.

·        Self motivation and an ability to work pro-actively and independently as required.

·        A proven ability to communicate in English and to work constructively in a team.

·        Must be able to work independently and in team.

·        Ability to influence and work cooperatively and expeditiously with staff, volunteers, industry, academic and government leaders.

·        Must exhibit a positive professional work ethic

·        Must be able to concurrently handle multiple projects and overlapping deadlines
